Partnerships and Development Financing Intern

About the role

The United Nations Resident Coordinator Office in Eswatini is looking for a motivated intern to support partnership development and resource mobilisation. This five‑month, unpaid internship offers hands‑on experience in analysing financing opportunities and strengthening UN coordination with government, donors and the private sector.

Key responsibilities

• Research and map bilateral, multilateral, philanthropic and private‑sector partners, as well as emerging development‑financing windows relevant to Eswatini.
• Track calls for proposals, funding instruments and partnership opportunities; prepare concept notes, funding briefs and resource‑mobilisation materials.
• Maintain and regularly update a partnership and resource‑mobilisation database, and produce partner profiles and briefing notes for meetings.
• Support the implementation and monitoring of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework 2026‑2030, including research on SDG acceleration and analysis of results and indicators.

Required profile

• Final‑year university student or recent graduate (Bachelor, Master or Ph.D.) in Peace and Conflict Studies, International Relations, Development Studies, Political Science, Public Policy, Governance, Economics or a related field.
• Strong academic interest in governance, conflict prevention, development cooperation and financing, with knowledge of Eswatini’s socio‑economic context.
• Analytical mindset, good writing and presentation abilities, and an affinity for coordination and volunteerism within the UN system.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience using econometric tools for data analysis.
• Statistical analysis capabilities.
