Collector

About the role

The Collector will manage a portfolio of delinquent accounts, engaging customers to negotiate repayment arrangements and minimise credit losses. The role supports the bank’s risk management objectives by providing analytical insights, maintaining accurate credit information and ensuring regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Manage and recover delinquent accounts using effective collection strategies.
• Engage customers via phone, email or face‑to‑face to negotiate repayment plans and resolve disputes.
• Monitor adherence to repayment agreements and take action on defaults.
• Escalate high‑risk accounts and recommend remedial actions within approved mandates.
• Facilitate refinancing, restructuring, settlement and repossession processes in line with credit policies.
• Prepare and distribute collection, recovery and risk management reports for senior management.
• Analyse portfolio data, identify trends and emerging risks, and support predictive risk modelling.
• Ensure all collection activities comply with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
• Maintain accurate documentation and audit trails for all customer engagements.

Required profile

• Proven experience in credit collection, debt recovery or related financial services.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret portfolio data and identify risk patterns.
• Good understanding of regulatory and internal credit risk management standards.
• Ability to communicate professionally with customers while balancing risk and recovery objectives.
• Attention to detail in maintaining accurate records and audit documentation.
