Manager - Digital Platform Engineering (Connectivity)

About the role

The Digital Platform Engineering Manager leads the design, development and delivery of secure, reliable digital solutions and automation for MTN Eswatini. The role oversees frontend, backend and full‑stack engineering, as well as security and infrastructure resources, to deliver customer‑facing platforms, APIs and integrated solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead iterative design, development, testing and delivery of digital products, applications, APIs and integrations.
• Work with product owners to refine requirements into a prioritized backlog with clear acceptance criteria.
• Direct frontend, backend and full‑stack development following approved technologies and architecture standards.
• Coordinate security and infrastructure resources to embed secure design and platform resilience.
• Oversee integration with CRM, billing, charging, Mobile Money and other enterprise systems.
• Identify, assess and prioritize workflow and system‑integration automation opportunities.
• Manage the design, development, testing and support of automation solutions, including workflow orchestration.
• Supervise the development and support of RESTful APIs, microservices and middleware integrations.
• Manage the external delivery partner, reviewing deliverables, utilisation and quality.
• Establish engineering standards, code review, automated test coverage and CI/CD pipeline controls.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related field.
• Minimum 3 years of software development and systems integration experience.
• Proven experience leading software engineering or digital platform delivery teams.
• Experience delivering enterprise applications, APIs and integrated digital solutions.
• Background in telecommunications, fintech or comparable enterprise environments.
• Experience managing external delivery partners and supplier deliverables.
